Jesse Grasso and Danny Smiles
Jesse Grasso brings more than 20 years of experience in Canada and abroad, including chef roles at The Black Hoof and Vin Papillon. Since 2021, he has been chef-partner at Pichai, where his cooking draws on Thai traditions and local ingredients. Under his direction, the restaurant has earned repeated spots on Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants list, a place on Air Canada’s Best New Restaurants longlist, and Eater Montréal’s Restaurant of the Year title in 2022.
Danny Smiles, a Montréal chef with Italian and Egyptian influences, first gained national attention on Top Chef Canada. He went on to lead kitchens at Le Bremner, Auberge Willow and Double’s Late Night, building a reputation for inventive, locally driven cooking recognized across the country.
